The global healthcare industry generates roughly 75M pounds of needle waste annually, posing significant environmental and public health risks. Solution: BioJect is developing biodegradable needles made from thermoplastic starch, polylactic acid, and additive reagents. These needles decompose naturally within nine months, reducing environmental impact and minimizing the risk of accidental needle stick injuries. BioJect offers the same precision and reliability as traditional metal needles due to our even thinner, ultrafine 1-55μm gauge that minimizes pain. In addition, BioJect’s needles will be sold at $0.20, the same price as needles being used currently. Implementation: BioJect’s needles are designed for seamless integration with existing medical equipment, ensuring ease of adoption as our needle meets ISO standards and is compatible with all syringes. We will conduct extensive R&D in Australia to receive a 43.5% cash rebate, design patents, achieve FDA approval, create educational materials for healthcare professionals, and build credibility over time.
